MFD hell-day

Yesterday was the last day of the academy for the new recruits to Maricopa Fire.  I was invited to join them for the day of drills, and play.  We started the day at 6:30 am with a 40 story climb up the stairwell of Chase Tower in Phoenix.  It was not only a drill, but [...]

african friend

I have had the honor of spending the last few days with my good friend Edward Simiyu.  Edward is from Nairobi Kenya and the pastor of City Harvest Church.  He is also very involved in rural evangelism, helping to eradicate poverty, and works with hundred of HIV/AIDS infected men and women.

I love spending time with Edward [...]

black friday

Its the day after Thanksgiving.  My tradition is to avoid at all cost showing my face at any retail outlet, including the grocery store.  I will hang my Christmas lights, put up the outside decorations, and generally just relax.
My friend Edward arrives from Kenya today for the weekend. We are gong to have another thanksgiving feast [...]

thanks

Wow, its been a week since my last post.  I can attribute this to my over busy schedule, and lack of boundaries.  Neither are good things to have, but together they can spell disaster.

reflections on serving

Wow!  What a morning we had on Sunday.  It was so good to see so many of you show up to a elementary school that disguises itself as a church on Sunday, and then leave it to go serve.
Keeping with the theme of the last 5 months or so, some unexpected things happened.  I learned [...]

sunday service

Today is Sunday, today our church will go to service for the very first time.  We have gathered for over two years on Sunday, but today we will go to service.  At 10:45 this morning our church will move into our community and begin to serve them. How you ask.  A totally free car wash, no tips, [...]

How do you think they find this stuff?  Most caffeinated U.S. cities?  I probably alone account for Phoenix high ranking. But I guess my friends in Chicago land have us beat again.

outflow

Okay I have not been keeping up with the study guides during outflow.  I have a couple of reasons, but I won’t bore you with them.  If you are a part of COH, I will ask that you come to church next week ready to leave the building.  I am very excited about this Sunday and [...]
