Lisa Akers - Childrens Director
Tell us a little about you
I grew up in RidgeFarm, Ill. on a small farm. I have 7 brothers and sisters, of which, I am the next to youngest. I moved to Arizona 23 yrs ago to escape the snow, and ended up meeting my husband. We have a daughter, Sydnee and a son, Grady. I love to relax on the beach and read. I enjoy softball, baking, entertaining and walking our small horse/ Dog, Kasha, who is a great dane. I also work full time during the week as a physical therapist.
What is something people don't know about you?
In my high school years, I played basketball. I scored 60 points in a single game and held all county records until my niece became old enough to break them. I still can be known to be a little competitive!
Why do you love COH?
I love the pastor--he is so handsome.....Besides that, the church is a warm group of people that are authentic about their issues and their positive attributes as well. Anyone is welcome, wherever you are at in life, to experience the grace, love and mercy of Jesus Christ.
What is your favorite color?
My favorite color is purple.
How long have you been a christian and how long have you been coming to COH?
I accepted Christ into my life when I was five. I do not believe I started to really get what that meant until I was into my late twenties-and continue to discover that each day. I started the church with Rusty.
Where else can we connect with you?
I am not the best computer wiz. I have facebook, but am rarely on it. Always a safe bet to see me out and about the city, especially at one of our children’s sporting events/school outings….
